GUYS AND DOLLS star Shaun Williamson
Shaun Williamson
Shaun Williamson is to take over as Nathan Detroit in the touring version of Michael Grandage’s production of Guys and Dolls when it visits Southampton, Oxford, Liverpool and Edinburgh in May and June.

Most recently seen as a finalist in BBC TV’s charity talent contest Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, Williamson is best known for his portrayal of the hapless Barry Evans, a role he played in EastEnders for nine years. He has also played Cliff in Funland and appeared in Bremner, Bird and Fortune, both for the BBC, and has starred in an episode of Ricky Gervais’ Extras. On stage, he has appeared in the West End in Saturday Night Fever at the Apollo Victoria Theatre and has played the Narrator in The Rocky Horror Show.

A musical classic, Guys and Dolls tells the story of a group of small-time gamblers and the ladies in their lives. Professional sharpie Nathan Detroit bets his friend Sky Masterson that he can't make the next lady he sees fall in love with him. The next lady happens to be the prim and proper neighbourhood missionary Sarah Brown, and the stage is set for an evening of exhilarating, nostalgic entertainment, borne up on Frank Loesser's peerless score.
[AD]As previously reported, other members of the touring cast will variously include Jonathan Wilkes, Claire Sweeney and Louise Dearman. The part of Nathan Detroit will be played by Brian Capron when the tour visits Nottingham and Sheffield. Guys and Dolls will play at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre from 1-12 May, Oxford’s New Theater from 15-26 May, Liverpool’s Empire from 29 May-9 June and Edinburgh’s Playhouse from 12-23 June.
