Paul Freeman
Paul Freeman
Paul Freeman and Matthew Marsh have joined the cast of the forthcoming revival of David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross. They will play the parts of George Aaronow and Dave Moss respectively. As previously reported, stars Jonathan Pryce and Aiden Gillen have already been cast. Directed by James McDonald, the play opens at the West End’s Apollo Theatre on 10 October, following previews from 27 September.

Freeman’s West End credits include Art and Orpheus Descending. He has also appeared in A Fair Quarrel, Plenty and The Women (National), Hamlet, Cymbeline (RSC), Tooth of Crime, No End of Blame (Royal Court) and The Cutting (Bush). Film appearances include The Long Good Friday, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Dogs of War, Stroke of Genius and Hot Fuzz.

Marsh’s last foray into the West End was in 2004, also at the Apollo, and also playing opposite Pryce, in the U.K. premiere of Edward Albee’s The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia, in a transfer from the Almeida. Other stage credits include Conversations after a Burial (also at the Almeida), The Little Foxes (Donmar Warehouse), US and Them (Hampstead), Copenhagen (National and West End), The Lightning Play and The Overwhelming (National). Television work includes , Hawking, Wall of Silence, Spooks and The Commander, and on film, Dirty Weekend, Beyond Friendship and Spy Game.

[AD]Glengarry Glen Ross centres on a competitive group of real estate salesmen who've gotten more than a little desperate during the reign of Reaganomics. The play, which won the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, was revived with a cast led by Alan Alda as Shelly Levene on Broadway in 2005. It won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. The producers of that production—Jerry Frankel, Jeffrey Richards and Jam Theatricals—are also behind the London outing. They are joined in the West End by Ron Kastner and Mark Rubinstein.

The remaining cast of the West End production comprises Shane Attwooll (Baylen), Anthony Flanagan (John Williamson) and Tom Smith (James Lingk).
