Desperately Seeking Susan has changed the date of its first preview. The musical will now begin performances at the Novello Theatre on 16 October (instead of 12 October) and open on 15 November. The producers say the reason for the change is “the technical requirements of the show.”
Based on the 1985 film starring Madonna and Rosanna Arquette, this musical version of Desperately Seeking Susan is set in New York City's vibrant Lower East Side and driven by the pulsating energy of classic Blondie songs. It features songs by Blondie, including “Call Me,” “Heart of Glass,” “Rapture,” “One Way or Another,” and “The Tide is High” amongst others.
The show stars Kelly Price and Emma Williams. It also features Leanne Best, Mark McGee, Alec Newman and Jonathan Wrather. The cast also includes Lucy Banfield, Matthew Boulton, Chloe Campbell, Matt Flint, Alex Gaumond, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Kaisa Hammarlund, Paul Hazel, Christine Holman, Steven Houghton, Toussaint Meghie, Twinnie-Lee Moore, Steven Serlin, Chris Piper, Laura Scott, Lincoln Stone and Gemma Whitelam.
The musical is written and conceived by American writer and director Peter Michael Marino, directed by Angus Jackson and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler.
