The Donmar Warehouse’s production of Pam Gems’ Piaf will transfer to the West End for a limited engagement. The production, which is currently playing a six-week run at the Donmar, will begin previews at the Vaudeville Theatre on October 16 with opening night set for October 21.
Elena Roger leads the cast of Piaf, which also includes Shane Attwooll, Phillip Browne, Lorraine Bruce, Luke Evans, Michael Hadley, Katherine Kingsley and Steve John Shepherd. It follows the story of French icon and enigmatic performer Edith Piaf. The show, which features a retooled book by playwright Gems, reunites Roger with associate director Jamie Lloyd after their successful collaboration on the Michael Grandage-helmed Evita revival at the Adelphi Theatre.
In addition to Evita, Roger’s U.K. credits include Boeing-Boeing. In her native Buenos Aires, her stage credits include Nine, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables and Saturday Night Fever.
Piaf features costume and scenic design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting by Neil Austin, sound design by Christopher Shutt and original compositions by Ben and Max Ringham.
