The cast of August: Osage County is complete with the addition of Gary Cole as Steve Heidebrecht. The London premiere of Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play begins previews at the National Theatre Lyttleton on November 21.
A Steppenwolf Theatre member, Cole appeared in twelve productions at the company’s Chicago home. He is mostly known for his work on screen and his film roles include Mike Brady in The Brady Bunch Movie, Bill Lumbergh in Office Space, Reese Bobby in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Ted Jones in Pineapple Express. He was recently seen on television as Wayne Davis on Desperate Housewives.
Cole joins previously announced cast members Ian Barford as Little Charles, Mariann Mayberry as Karen Weston, Amy Morton as Barbara Fordham, Sally Murphy as Ivy Weston, Jeff Perry as Bill Fordham and Rondi Reed as Mattie Fay Aiken, with Deanna Dunagan as Violet Weston, Kimberly Guerrero as Johnna Longwell, Michael McGuire as Beverly Weston, Paul Vincent O’Connor as Charlie Aiken, Molly Ranson as Jean Fordham and Troy West as Sheriff Deon Gilbeau.
August: Osage County tells the explosively funny tale of the Weston clan, which reunites at home in Oklahoma after the disappearance of the family patriarch. With insight and humor, Letts' critically acclaimed play paints a vivid portrait of a Midwestern family at a critical turning point.
