The full cast of Tom Stoppard's Arcadia has been announced. Directed by David Leaveaux, the production begins performances at the Duke of York's Theatre on May 27 with opening night set for June 4.
Featured in the cast will be Trevor Cooper as Richard Noakes, Sam Cox as Jellaby, Lucy Griffiths as Chloe Coverly, Tom Hodgkins as Captain Brice, Hugh Mitchell as Augustus/Gus Coverly and George Potts as Ezra Chater. They join the previously announced Ed Stoppard as Valentine Coverly, Samantha Bond as Hannah Jarvis, Nancy Carroll as Lady Croom, Jessie Cave as Thomasina Coverly, Neil Pearson as Bernard Nightingale and Dan Stevens as Septimus Hodge.
The story of Arcadia begins in 1809 at a stately home in Derbyshire where Thomasina, a gifted pupil, proposes a startling theory, beyond her comprehension. All around her, the adults, including her tutor Septimus, are preoccupied with secret desires, illicit passions and professional rivalries. Two hundred years later, academic adversaries Hannah and Bernard, are piecing together puzzling clues, curiously recalling those earlier events, in their quest for an increasingly elusive truth.
The production will feature scenic design by Hildegard Bechtler, costume design by Amy Roberts, lighting design by Paul Anderson and sound design by Simon Baker.
