Skyfall Collaborators John Logan & Sam Mendes Teaming Up for New Vampire TV Series
Sam Mendes & John Logan
'Red' director Sam Mendes and writer John Logan will reunite in a new vampire-hunting TV series.

Tony-winning playwright John Logan and director Sam Mendes, who recently collaborated on the new James Bond film Skyfall, will take on the undead in an untitled new TV series, according to Deadline.com. Written by Logan and produced (as well as possibly directed) by Mendes, the new drama will be the duo’s TV series debut. No shooting dates or casting have been set.

Set in the 1800s in London, the new series will include legendary characters Van Helsing and Doctor Frankenstein as they go on the hunt for vampires. The new TV show is described as being in the style of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which was also set in 19th-century Europe.

Logan’s play Red earned a 2010 Tony Award for Best Play. His screenplays include The Last Samurai, Gladiator, Rango and Any Given Sunday. Logan's additional plays include Hauptmann, Riverview and Never the Sinner. Logan's next play Peter and Alice will begin its West End run in March. Logan also recently penned the screenplays for the film adaptations of Patti Smith's memoir Just Kids, as well as the now troubled Jersey Boys film. He had also been attached to adapt the vampire novel The Passage for the big screen.

Mendes directed The Vertical Hour, The Blue Room, Gypsy and Cabaret on Broadway, and has earned three Tony Awards for his producing credits. His Broadway producing credits include Red, Electra, Closer, Sunday in the Park With George, Shrek the Musical, Mary Stuart, Hamlet, After Miss Julie and Enron. His film directing credits include American Beauty, Revolutionary Road, Road to Perdition and Jarhead.
