OrfehIf designer Stephen Saint-Onge looks familiar, it may be from his appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, While You Were Out, The View and The Early Show or from the numerous home makeover stories he’s spearheaded for magazines such as House Beautiful, Cottage Living, InStyle, Real Simple and Child. This charming, can-do pro declares, “Good design has the power to change lives,” and he proves it by creating interiors that are beautifully chic, yet warm and livable. Rather than imposing a signature design style, Stephen believes that homes should reflect the personality and needs of the people who live in them.

Laura and StephenAppropriately enough, Stephen Saint-Onge began his creative career in film and television production design. He worked with Ismail Merchant, the director famous for Oscar-winning period films, and soon found himself in demand by private clients. While building a career that earned him a place on House Beautiful’s list of America’s top 15 designers under 40, Stephen began volunteering for charity events benefiting nationwide food banks and the homeless and speaking out on the importance of the creative arts in schools.

As Stephen tells Broadway.com, “Theater and film are my passion in life. Now that I have established a solid career as a designer, I’m ready to use my expertise in the areas I love most.” Somehow, we just knew that he would “click” with the bubbly star of Legally Blonde, Laura Bell Bundy, who’s simply too busy to concentrate on getting her midtown Manhattan apartment in shape while rehearsing a big Broadway musical. Luckily for a makeover wizard like Stephen, Laura will be spending seven weeks in San Francisco with the show, giving him plenty of time to create a home fit for a Broadway star just in time for Broadway previews.
