Billy Elliot composer Elton John hosted a special charity gala performance of the show on 22 November in aid of The Place2Be. Director Stephen Daldry created a unique performance for this special night, and one of the original Billys, Liam Mower, brought the house down as he reprised the title role. X-Factor judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh also made guest appearances. The musical also celebrated its one millionth patron through the doors at the Victoria Palace Theatre--the patron, David Llewellyn, his wife Julie, their daughter Jade and son Bryce travelled from Warrington to see the show. The Place2Be, founded in 1994, delivers a range of services directly to children, parents and teachers in primary schools, from ex-mining communities.
