All eyes were on the Adelphi Theatre on 17 July when London’s new Joseph, Lee Mead, donned his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in a full-blooded inaugural performance of the eagerly awaited revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s timeless family musical. The rising star proved beyond doubt that he was worthy of the public confidence that won him the starring role via TV casting show Any Dream Will Do. The West End’s glitterati were out in force at the after party to pay tribute to the marvelous Mead, among them previous TV talent show winner and latterday The Sound of Music megastar Connie Fisher and Sir Tim Rice and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber themselves.
