New Leads Line Up for the West End's Chicago

Amra-Faye Wright
Amra-Faye Wright, Luca Barbaresch and Brenda Edwards will join the recently announced new Roxie Hart, Bonnie Langford, in the West End production of Chicago.

Wright will play Velma Kelly. She returns to London from New York, where she played the role on Broadway from 16 January to 16 April. She previously appeared in the London run for four months last year, in the U.K. national tour and the original South African production. Barbareschi, who has starred in a tour of Chicago in Italy, where he is a leading TV, film and theatre star, will take over as Billy Flynn. Recently awarded the Silver Medal for Culture and Art by the President of the Italian Republic and the Italian Ministry of Culture, he played Salieri in Roman Polanski’s production of Amadeus in Italy. Edwards, who was a finalist on ITV’s The X Factor, takes over as Mama Morton. Victor McGuire, currently in the cast as Amos Hart, continues in his role. The new principals are contracted through 17 June.

Chicago, which is currently running at the Adelphi to 22 April, will transfer to the Cambridge Theatre from 28 April.
