Josefina Gabrielle
Josefina Gabrielle will return to the current London production of Chicago for the fifth time. The actress will play Roxie Hart for a four-week season from 30 October to 25 November.

Gabrielle, who was a soloist for the National Ballet of Portugal for almost five years, first came to London theatrical prominence when she played Laurie in National Theatre’s 1998 production of Oklahoma!, opposite Hugh Jackman’s Curly and directed by Trevor Nunn. She subsequently transferred to the West End’s Lyceum Theatre in it and was nominated for a 1999 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical (losing to Sophie Thompson for the Donmar Warehouse production of Into the Woods). She recreated her performance in the Broadway bow of the production at the Gershwin Theatre in 2002, now opposite Patrick Wilson as Curly. Her other West End credits include The Witches of Eastwick and Singin’ in the Rain. She recently appeared in Tonight at 8.30 at the Minerva Theatre, Chichester as part of the summer season there.

During Gabrielle’s return run to Chicago, the show will also celebrate its ninth London anniversary on 18 November, having played 3,743 performances. Gabrielle joins current Chicago cast members Ian Kelsey (who has extended his run for a further four weeks to 25 November) as Billy Flynn, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Julian Sims as Amos Hart and Brenda Edwards as Mama Morton.
