Jackie Clune to Replace Sally Dexter in Billy Elliot in June


Jackie Clune
Singer, radio presenter and actress Jackie Clune is to take over as Mrs. Wilkinson in Billy Elliot. She replaces Sally Dexter in the role of Billy’s dance teacher from 4 June at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

Clune was most recently seen in the international touring version of Mamma Mia! in the lead role of Donna. Her West End credits include appearances in Boy George’s musical Taboo at the Venue and The Vagina Monologues at the New Ambassadors Theatre. On the fringe, she has played the title role in Julie Burchill is Away at Soho Theatre, and her own shows Follow the Star and It’s Jackie! (at the Drill Hall) as well as Chicks with Flicks (at the King’s Head). TV credits include appearances in Waking the Dead, EastEnders, Something for the Weekend and Rhona.

The current cast of Elton John and Lee Hall’s Billy Elliot, directed by Stephen Daldry, features Leon Cooke, Dean McCarthy, Layton Williams and Travis Yates rotating in the title role , James Gaddas as Dad, Chris Lennon as Tony, Ann Emery as Grandma, Trevor Fox as George, Alex Delamere as Mr. Braithwaite, Sara Poyzer as Mum and Isaac James as Older Billy.
