TV’s Maria Runner-Up Siobhan Dillon Lands Role in Grease

Siobhan Dillon
The new West End production of Grease, for which the lead roles of Danny and Sandy will be determined by public votes on ITV’s weekly casting contest show Grease is the Word, has announced that Siobhan Dillon has been cast as Patty Simcox. The show begins performances at the Piccadilly Theatre on 25 July and opens on 8 August.

Dillon, who is making her West End debut in Grease, was one of the final three on last year’s television talent search for Maria in The Sound of Music, a role won by Connie Fisher. Since then, she has been writing and recording her debut album. Her character in Grease is a squeaky-clean cheerleader who has a crush on Danny.

“I knew that Siobhan was something special when I first saw her for The Sound of Music," producer David Ian said in a statement, "and I am very pleased that she will be joining the cast of Grease.” Dillon added that she is “utterly thrilled to be treading the boards at the Piccadilly. It’s absolutely a dream come true.”
