Gary Watson, Edward Baruwa, Melane La Barrie, Cassandra Compton and Claire-Marie Hall
are joining the cast of London’s
Les Miserables. The performers will begin with the production on 25 June at the Queen’s Theatre.
Watson takes over as Marius. He was recently seen in
Evita at the Adelphi, and starred as Rum Tum Tugger in the national tour of
Cats. Baruwa, who takes over as Enjolras, was recently in
Porgy and Bess at the Savoy. His other West End credits include
Dancing in the Streets and
Jerry Springer – the Opera. La Barrie, who will play Madame Thenardier, was seen as the original Mrs. Corry in
Mary Poppins as Pearl in
Daddy Cool at the Shaftesbury. Compton, who will play Eponine, played Mary Lennox in the RSC’s production of
The Secret Garden and had a leading role in
Whistle Down then Wind. She was a runner-up in TV’s The X Factor in 2004 and subsequently sang in the
X Factor Live U.K. tour. Hall, who makes her West End debut as Cosette, has been seen in
South Pacific at the Cardiff New Theatre.
They join continuing principal cast members John Owen-Jones as Jean Valjean, Hans Peter Janssens as Javert, Joanna Ampil as Fantine and Chris Vincent as Thenardier.
