Preeya Kalidas has been cast as the female lead in the forthcoming West End production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She will play the role of the Narrator opposite newcomer Lee Mead, who won the show’s title role via a public phone vote on the TV talent contest
Any Dream Will Do last week, as
previously reported.
Kalidas is best known to theatre audiences for her lead performance as Priya in Lloyd Webber’s Bollywood-style musical Bombay Dreams. She has also appeared in films including Bollywood Queen, East is East and Bend it Like Beckham. Her TV work includes the BBC drama Bodies, Robin Hood, Green Wing, Sari and Trainers, The Fiancee, Jump Boy, Doctors, Bedtime, Broken News, England Expects, Decreed and Britz. She also enjoys a successful career as a recording artist.
