The West End’s Ring Round the Moon to Close Early

The Playhouse Theatre revival of Jean Anouilh's Ring Round the Moon, in an adaptation by Christopher Fry, will close March 29, less than six weeks after Sean Mathias' production opened to mixed-to-positive reviews.

Ring Round the Moon stars Angela Thorne, Leigh Lawson, Joanna David, Belinda Lang and newcomer JJ Feild, who inherits Paul Scofield's original role as twins—one thoughtful and generous, the other a calculated schemer

A press release blamed insufficient box office for the premature closure of the production, which marked the return to the London fold of Welshman Mathias, whose directing credits include Les Parents Terribles, A Little Night Music, and Uncle Vanya at the National Theatre and Indiscretions, with Kathleen Turner, Roger Rees and Jude Law, on Broadway.
