Kris Marshall, Joanna Page, Ella Smith and Robert Webb will star in the U.K. premiere of Neil LaBute’s
Fat Pig. Performances will begin at Trafalgar Studios on May 16 with opening night set for May 27. LaBute will direct.
In
Fat Pig, Tom meets Helen and finds there is an instant connection, even though it's not exactly love at first sight. Helen is a bright, funny, sexy young woman who happens to be plus-sized and then some, and it's only so long before the insults start to fly from Tom's shallow yet shockingly funny office buddies.
Marshall, who will take on the role of Carter, was recently seen on the West End stage opposite Billie Piper in
Treats. His television credits include Nick in
My Family and he has been seen on film in
Death at a Funeral, The Merchant of Venice and as Colin in
Love, Actually.
Page, who will play Jeannie, stars as Stacey on the BBC series
Gavin and Stacey and has also been seen in
Love Soup. Her film credits include
Gideon’s Daughter and
Love, Actually. She was recently seen opposite Ian McKellen in the Old Vic production of
Alladin.
Smith, who will take on the role of Helen, was featured on the drama series
Cape Wrath and recently starred opposite Marshall in the BBC drama
Sold.
Robert Webb, who will play Tom, is one half of Mitchell and Webb, the popular U.K. comedy group that created the television shows
Peep Show and
That Mitchell & Webb Look.
This production of
Fat Pig will be produced by Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Group and Broadway producer Barry Weissler, who is also behind the London production of
Chicago. It is scheduled to end on September 6.
