Our House, the show scored to the music of the 1980s pop group Madness that won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best Musical, is set to launch a U.K. tour. The tour will kick off on May 29 at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre for a three-week run opening on June 3. Numerous dates around the country follow through October, with time off in August, and additional destinations are due to be announced shortly.
The cast is headed by ITV's X-Factor winner Steve Brookstein, whois making his theatrical debut opposite TV name Gwyneth Strong, who played Cassandra in Only Fools and Horses and has appeared in plays at the Royal Court Theatre and the Bush.
The creative team includes director Matthew Warchus and designer Rob Howell, whose current London and/or New York credits together include Boeing-Boeing and The Lord of the Rings. The musical has a book by Tim Firth and choreography by Billy Elliot's Peter Darling.
Our House was first seen on the West End in the fall of 2002; its original lead, Michael Jibson, is in the ensemble this summer at Shakespeare's Globe.
