Islington's King's Head Theatre will premiere its second consecutive original musical with the composer/lyricist/book writer Ian McFarlane's Betwixt!, running May 6-June 22. The press performance will be the Sunday matinee, May 11.
The show, a fantasy adventure set in the world of the In-Between, had a three-week workshop in 2006 at the Theatre Museum in Covent Garden. McFarlane also takes a leading role in the show, playing the flamboyant Cooper Fitzgerald. Others in the cast include Mark Inscoe, Ross Aldred, Amy Griffiths, Abi Finley, and Amanda Symonds. The director is Kate Golledge, who was assistant director on the West End musical
Daddy Cool. Lucie Pankhurst is the choreographer.
Betwixt! follows the Cole Porter-scored King's Head entry,
The Black & White Ball. Both shows are part of a busy season of new work programmed by Stephanie Sinclaire, widow of the longtime King's Head artistic director, Dan Crawford, who died almost three years ago.
