In September, it will have been three years since an Australian unknown, Helen Dallimore, opened as Glinda in the West End premiere of Wicked, opposite Tony winner Idina Menzel’s Elphaba. After a year of descending to the stage of the Apollo Victoria Theatre in a bubble and belting out "Popular," she returned to Sydney and her partner of six years, actor-director Abe Forsythe. (The couple got married three months ago.) Now Dallimore, 38, is back on the London stage in a show, Too Close to the Sun at the Comedy Theatre, that promises to be the complete antithesis to Wicked. It’s a chamber musical with a cast of four about the last day or so in the life of Ernest Hemingway. James Graeme plays the fearsome American novelist who gave us The Old Man and the Sea and The Sun Also Rises, among many other classics, before shooting himself in 1961, and Dallimore is his fourth wife, Mary Welsh Hemingway, who died a quarter century later. In London, Dallimore is staying this time around in the Clapham home of her Wicked co-star, Miriam Margolyes. She spoke animatedly to Broadway.com during a rehearsal break from the show, which opens on July 24....

Sam Kelly and Natalie Anderson are set to join the cast of the West End production of Wicked. Kelly will take on the role of The Wizard with Anderson playing Nessarose. Both begin performances at the Apollo Victoria Theatre on May 11.
Kelly is best known for his appearances on the popular televisions series Porridge, 'Allo, 'Allo, On the Up and Barbara. He's been seen on stage at the National Theatre in The Homecoming, War and Peace and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Anderson has played Nurse Stella Davenport on ITV's The Royal since 2004 and has also been seen on the BBC children's series The Biz. ...

Alexia Khadime is set to rejoin the West End cast of Wicked as Elphaba on May 11. She will replace current star Kerry Ellis, who will depart the production on May 9.
Khadime first starred as Elphaba in London's Wicked in June 2008, replacing Ellis after she left the company to join the Broadway cast. She made her West End debut in The Lion King in 2001, when she was 17. Khadime returned to the show in May 2005 to star as Nala. Her other theater roles include Candy in the national tour of Whistle Down The Wind, Ronnie Spector in the national tour of Leader of the Pack and Cinderella The Musical at the Hackney Empire. Her television appearances include two series of Grange Hill; Tanisha in Cleopatra Comin’ Atcha (ITV1) and Sophie Thompson in Dream Team. ...
